In this accredited, hands-on Master of Planning program, you’ll learn how to tackle real-world challenges like population growth, urbanization, and sustainability—graduating ready to create meaningful, lasting impact where people live, work, and connect.

After you complete your MPlan and start working in the field, you can take the first step toward becoming a professional planner by applying for Candidate membership with a provincial or territorial planning association. Planners work in a range of public, private, and non-profit settings across the country.

Program options

Professional: This course-based master’s program will enable you to acquire specialized knowledge, enhance critical skills, and advance your career. Learn more about professional master's degrees at Dal.

Project: In the second year of the MPlan program, all students take on two major research-based projects: one individual and one team project.

Co-op: A work term in your third semester gives you the opportunity to combine theory with practice, and gain professional experience.

All graduate programs at Ä¢¹½AV are collaboratively delivered by a home Faculty and theÌýFaculty of Graduate Studies.

You'll need to meet theÌýFaculty of Graduate Studies minimum requirementsÌýas well as any program-specific admission requirements before you can apply.

The next deadline to apply for this program is January 15 (early consideration), March 1 (international), or April 15 (domestic) for a September start.

To apply, you’ll need to meet Ä¢¹½AV’s graduate admission requirements and submit a complete application. Your application should include your transcripts, a statement of intent, résumé, writing sample, and references.

ÌýApplicants must meet theÌýFaculty of Graduate Studies (FGS) minimum English language proficiency requirements and proof of English proficiency may be required if English is not your first language.
