Make friends for life
Residence experiences are a great opportunity for personal growth, developing leadership abilities, working within groups, and making friends.
Programs and activities offer you a chance to socialize and meet new people, achieve your academic potential, contribute, and learn about yourself and the greater communities around you.
We also know the people you meet in residence can become lifelong friends. Community Assistants (CATs) and Community Housing Leaders (CHLs) are always organizing great events tailored to your community’s interests so you can meet people and socialize in a healthy and safe atmosphere.
Examples of popular programming include:Â
DIY craft workshopsÂ
movie nights
mocktails nights
cooking classes
sports nightsÂ
board games
video games
city tours

bingo

Residence councils (Halifax)
Residence councils are a great leadership opportunity, and a fun way to get involved in your building. Residence Councils are ratified and run through the DSU (Ä¢¹½AV Students Union). They are for residence students, by residence students. Residence councils are responsible for planning and running all kinds of events in residence. They’re a great way to meet new people and help create a fun community in residence.
Information on applying to be part of a residence council will be available in September when you join us!
House councils (Truro)
Each house council has the objective to promote house spirit and a healthy co-educational lifestyle by encouraging social interaction within the house and across the Agricultural campus. They act as a mediator between residents and the remainder of the University community while overseeing, supporting, and organizing house activities.
Make sure to volunteer for your House Council in September!Â
Great ideas wanted!
You not only have the opportunity to participate in events but can also play a role in their planning and execution.
Your residence life staff will be looking for your help, involvement and ideas to make your residence experience the best it can be. If you have an idea for an event or activity in residence, please contact the Residence Life Manager for your residence or your student leaders for guidance and support.
