Residence dining halls

ĢAV’s Halifax Campuses feature four dining halls with all-you-care-to-eat nutritious and delicious meal options for all students, faculty, and staff.

More than a place to eat

Our dining halls are more than just a place to eat—they’re vibrant community hubs filled with engaging events and celebrations all year round. Here’s what students can look forward to:

ճ𳾱貹پ

Every month, we host a themed party in a dining hall, complete with decorations, music, and food to match the celebration. Students are encouraged to dress up and join the fun!

These special events give our culinary team a chance to connect with students by showcasing dishes close to their hearts—from innovative creations to comforting home recipes.

Students can submit their favourite recipes, and selected dishes will be featured in the dining hall for everyone to enjoy.

Our registered dietitian hosts regular events to promote health and wellness, including our popular “Exam Cram” DIY trail mix stations during exam season.

In partnership with ĢAV’s Office of Sustainability, we host events that help students learn about Fairtrade, food waste, recycling, and more—making sustainability part of everyday life.

From Potato Chip Day to National Chocolate Cake Day, we celebrate all things delicious to make dining hall experiences extra fun and memorable.

NEW! Late-night dining at Risley Hall

Your late-night favourites, on campus, made-to-order.

Beginning September 10, late night dining will be available to residents right on campus.

Based at Risley Dining Hall, residents will enjoy an a-la-carte menu of late-night favourites like pizza, burgers, poutine and more.

While late-night dining is not included in the meal plan, you may use your Foodbucks, credit, or debit to purchase from this menu!

Late-night dining will be available Thursday – Saturday from 10 p.m. to 2 a.m. at Risley Dining Hall only.

Open to all residents.

Special dietary needs

We are committed to ensuring all students, faculty, and staff have a positive and safe dining experience in our dining halls. This means rigorous food labelling for common allergens and dietary preferences, as well as procedures to prevent cross-contamination.

Off-Campus Meal plans

Variety, value, and convenience

Meal plans aren’t just for residents!

Off-campus meal plans allow students living off campus to enjoy the same delicious and nutritious options and skip the grocery shopping and cooking.
