The Living Lab
Nova Scotia booth will be demonstrating soil biology through Soil Your Undies. Living Lab – Nova Scotia works directly with farmers to develop and test management practices than can improve soil heath. A large part of soil health is the soil biology. By using cotton underwear as a food source for the organisms living in the soil, we’ve created a memorable demonstration that soil is indeed very alive and very active.

Come see our student-run vegetable (and cut flower) farm. Guess the number of seeds for a free box of veggies! ĢAV students are putting their theory to practice, learning to become sustainable future farmers, and are providing top-quality local veggies for sale in Bible Hill.

Get Creative with Agriculture!
Join Agriculture in the Classroom for some hands-on farm-inspired fun. Create your own sheep wool craft, make a seed necklace to take home, and learn about the important role plants and animals play in our everyday lives. This interactive activity is perfect for young learners who love to create, explore, and discover the world of agriculture.

Fibres of Friendship Location
Discover flax, the amazing slender little plant that produces linen, the oldest natural fibres in the world used for fabric. Through this fun, hands-on activity and a simple "Seed to Shirt" display, visitors will explore the journey of flax from seed to fibre to fabric and learn how natural fibres can support a more sustainable future. We invite children and families to create their own friendship bracelet using real flax fibres from campus research projects!
The Bubble Barn is back!
Be sure to bring a towel and a change of clothes for the little ones; It is a fun and wet time. Slip and slide down a foam-covered hill. Once down the hill, you can come look at the Engineering Exhibit in the Banting Building, showcasing outstanding research.

Mi’kmaw Hieroglyphics are pictorial symbols used in ancient writing systems.
Join us in the Multicultural room to learn about smudging and paint river rocks with Mi'kmaw hieroglyphics. Anyone who wants to smudge, chat, paint and learn about our Indigenous supports on campus is welcome.
The Business and Social Science department will be hosting a gallery walk of featuring research and class activities. Entrepreneurship professor, Tasha Richard, will have an interactive entrepreneurship game and there will also be a career colouring pages station.

Have you ever wondered how insects live, what they eat, or why they are so important? Join us for a fun and interactive session all about the amazing world of insects! Meet researchers who study insects and learn about the exciting work they do. Bring along your insect questions, and if you have an insect specimen you'd like identified, please bring it along too. You'll have the chance to see native insects up close using microscopes and discover fascinating details that are hard to see with the naked eye. Whether you're curious about butterflies, beetles, bees, or any other type of bug, there's something for everyone to enjoy. Come explore, ask questions, and uncover the hidden world of insects through hands-on learning and discovery!

Visit SuperNOVA to get hands-on with STEM!
SuperNOVA will lead participants through explorations of the science of sound and how our bodies work together to make movement possible! From how sound waves travel to how we hear, join SuperNOVA to see sound in action, investigate key concepts like vibration and pitch, and learn about hearing loss and technologies like hearing aids and cochlear implants. Looking for more? Through interactive activities, explore how the skeletal, muscular, and nervous systems connect. Participants will test their reaction time and use 3D-printed hands to model real movement in a collaborative challenge!

Langille Athletic Centre
Come to the Langille Centre for all your fitness needs! Whether it's working out on our brand-new equipment or playing some sports on our indoor courts, the Langille Centre has what you need. Come in for a tour and to cool off. Try your hand at axe throwing. Community memberships available.
Tropical Greenhouse
Did you know some plants do not need soil to grow? Come to our tropical greenhouse and see a large selection of tropical, succulent, orchid and epiphytic plants just hanging around the greenhouse. It also houses a small water feature surrounded by desert cacti. Location: Collins Greenhouse

The Bible Hill Garden Club invites everyone to participate in and enjoy our annual Flower & Vegetable Show. Imagine life from a bird’s perspective!
Children are invited to step into a larger-than-lifebird’s nest and imagine what it might be like to live among twigs, leaves, feathers, and eggs. Explore the Rock Garden for hidden food, predators, and other exciting treasures. This activity encourages curiosity about birds, habitats, and the creative ways animals build homes in the landscape. You can also take a walk-through exhibit of design work by students in the Landscape Horticulture and Landscape Architecture programs in a cooled space with publicwashrooms.
Butter Making
Step back in time and discover how butter was traditionally made! This hands-on activity lets visitors churn fresh cream into butter while learning about the science, history, and importance of dairy production. It's a fun, interactive experience for all ages—and a tasty way to connect with agriculture.

Ever wondered what life is like on a modern farm? Put on a Virtual Reality headset and take a virtual tour while discovering how technology is helping us better understand farm animals. Listen to the sounds of cows and chickens and explore fun, interactive apps developed by our research team that reveal how animals communicate. It's a hands-on experience for all ages that combines agriculture, innovation, and a little bit of farmyard fun!

FAQs
What time does Community Day start?
- Community Day runs from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm
Will we be able to see any animals?
- Yes! The Farm will be accessible to all.
What types of things will we see at the event?
- We will have hands-on interactive exhibits, cold treats, live music, scheduled events and more! See the map and list of activities above.
Where can we park?
- Most of our attractions are within a reasonable walking distance. We invite you to park in any of our available lots on campus. A volunteer will be ready to greet you in each parking lot across campus, provide you with a map for the day and direct you to your first station.
What happens if it rains?
- Community Day happens rain or shine! You just have to decide if you should strap on those rubber boots or pack the sunscreen and sun hats. Either way, come!
What kinds of things should I/we bring?
- We suggest bringing a water bottle to refill, sunscreen, and wear comfortable shoes! If you will be using the Bubble Barn a change of clothes and a towel.
Is there food at the event?
Yes! We have an on-site BBQ for purchasing food, such as burgers, hot dogs, chicken on a bun, pasta salad, potato salad, drinks, and other snacks.Cash, credit and debit accepted. Prices shown include tax.
