COVID-19 infection and death rates in former Eastern Bloc countries suggest the fall of communism was detrimental to the health and well-being of eastern Europeans.

World-renowned architect and former Dal prof Brian MacKay-Lyons was appointed as a Member of the Order of Canada and business leader John Bragg was promoted to a Companion of the Order — just two of seven individuals with connections to Dal to receive one of Canada's top honours late last month.

A small satellite designed and built by Dal Engineering students finally launched into orbit last week. It is the first deployment of its kind for a satellite made in Atlantic Canada.
