The Royal Society of Canada has named Dr. Afua Cooper the winner of its J. B. Tyrrell Historical Medal in recognition of her impactful scholarship on Canadian Black history.

The Schulich School of Law and the Ä¢¹½AV Law Alumni Association honour lawyer Alex Neve (LLB ’87) for his work in advancing human rights internationally.

Ä¢¹½AV tapped into the expertise of Inspiring Communities, a not-for-profit group that builds collaborative relationships for social change, for guidance in addressing the complex issue of street parties and high-risk party culture.

Just months before she was crowned Queen Elizabeth II, Princess Elizabeth dropped by Ä¢¹½AV's campus as part of a cross-Canada tour. Hundreds gathered in the rain to greet the woman who went on to become Britain's longest-serving monarch.

Dr. Kevin Hewitt, a professor in the Department of Physics and Atmospheric Science and former chair of Ä¢¹½AV Senate, has been named the Faculty of Science’s associate dean, equity and inclusion, a new position created to lead the Faculty's equity, diversity, inclusion, and accessibility strategy.
