Professor Robert France was one of 13 groups or individuals invited by the Mayoral Office of Halifax to present ideas at a special envisioning or “shakeup” session on how to transform the infamous Cogswell Interchange near the Halifax waterfront.
Dr. France’s presentation focused on the creation of multi-functional landscapes encompassing public parks, edible gardens, stormwater runoff treatment and urban biodiversity habitat.
The proposal was well received and led to Dr. France being interviewed for a feature article in the Chronicle Herald as well as for Global Television. More than 500 people were in attendance at the event and Dr. France fielded dozens of questions and handed out brochures about ĢAV’s recently established Faculty of Agriculture about which many very curious.
