After 21 years of two extremely rewarding careers overseas, Dawn Doig (MSc'90) has returned home.
In Dawn's words: Audiology took me to Nanaimo and Clearbrook, B.C., Peace River, Alberta, Yellowknife, NWT, Kuwait, England, and Saudi Arabia. In Saudi Arabia, I helped start up and head a very successful Audiology unit. After eight years there, I switched careers and began teaching English as an additional language. My teaching career took me to Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia, and Cameroon, Africa, and now back home to Canada. I initially taught English language learners at three schools in the Fraser-Cascade school district. Last year, I taught inclusive education, including three remedial reading classes for Grades 7, 8, and 9. This year I am the early literacy specialist at an elementary school in the same district.Â
Dawn is also an active volunteer with the local Lions Club and was on the committee for her local Terry Fox Run this year. She is the published author of 15 children’s picture books and currently resides with her two Mongolian kitties in Harrison Hot Springs, B.C.
